Controller (Financial Executive)

Job Summary
The Controller has responsibility for PNT Data’s day-to-day financial operations, charged with managing financial operations and cash flow, reporting, forecasting, compliance and controls. As a member of the management team, the Controller provides analysis for investments, pricing decisions, contract negotiations and new business while maintaining control, accuracy and timeliness of all finance department activity.

Roles and Responsibilities

Management

• Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
• Oversee the operations of the accounting / finance department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department’s goals and objectives
• Manage and monitor cash, including cash flow models and monitoring of key cash drivers such as receivables, and capital expenditures
• Develop and continually improve financial models to evaluate new business attractiveness; lead analysis in concert with senior management.
• Support and recommend product development and other initiatives to achieve growth goals
• Manage vendors, procurement and outsourced functions
• This role will have access to Protected Health Information (PHI), Personally Identifiable Information   (PII) and confidential information.  All employees will be required to successfully complete and   comply with company provided HIPAA Privacy and Security training annually.

Financial Reporting and Financial Control Environment

• Prepare financial analysis reports, including comparative reports of GAAP operating results, operating reults financial position
• Issue timely and complete financial statements; provide management insight and recommend business actions
• Participate in Board meetings and prepare Board analyses and communications.
• Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations; assist in goal setting.
• Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
• Manage annual plan and forecasting processes; prepare monthly / quarterly analysis of variances and drive action plans to assure goals are met.
• Provide for a system of management cost reports and margin analysis
• Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, vendor management and contract negotiations
• Review and approve bank reconciliations, loan schedules, cash flow statements, client billings / AR, stock records, fixed asset and capitalization ledgers, revenue, cash forecasts and other analyses to drive accurate financial results.
• Manage (and act as fiduciary as required) with external vendors for payroll, 401k management, health benefits, investment and insurance services.
• Maintain relationships with external banking, investment, audit / accounting and other resources to support PNT growth needs.
• Collaborate with operational areas to manage healthcare clearinghouse functions and recommend actions to improve operational efficiency, profitability and market response. Includes aspects of  Trading Partner relationship management, clearinghouse operations (including pricing and margin analysis decisions to support ongoing profitability), competitive analyses working with PNT Growth Officer and Sales and Account Management resources.

Compliance

• Oversee the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit; assure successful conclusion of annual audits, tax reviews and required income tax filings (state and federal).
• Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
• Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements
• Manage the work and development of staff members participating in financial processes
• Responsible for maintaining adequate financial controls environment and assuring accuracy of financial records.
• Manage and direct special projects as required.
